Attestation
A formal statement that specified requirements have been met, signed by someone accountable for its accuracy.
Self-attestation appears throughout compliance, from PCI self-assessment questionnaires to CMMC Level 1 and SPRS submissions. It is fast and inexpensive because it relies on your own assessment.
It also carries real liability. In regulated and government contexts a knowingly inaccurate attestation can be treated as a false claim, with consequences well beyond losing the contract.
