BYOD
Also known as Bring your own device
Allowing staff to access company systems from personal phones and computers.
BYOD is popular and quietly risky. A personal laptop with no encryption, an unsupported operating system, and a shared family login is a poor place for client data, and you generally cannot see any of that.
The workable model uses application protection rather than device seizure: company data stays in managed applications, can be wiped selectively, and access requires the device to meet a minimum bar.
Where this comes up
BYOD sits inside our microsoft 365 and cloud work. If you are trying to work out what this means for your own environment rather than in the abstract, that is the page worth reading next, and a short call will get you a straight answer faster than either.
