Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft's AI assistant inside the Office applications, drawing on the content the signed-in user can already access.

Copilot respects existing permissions, which sounds reassuring until you consider what those permissions actually allow. If a user can technically open the salary spreadsheet, Copilot can summarize it for them when asked a related question.

That makes a permissions review the correct first step of a rollout rather than an optional extra. It is licensed as an add-on on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan.
