Microsoft 365 E7: Price, What's Included, and E7 vs E5
Published October 18, 2026
Microsoft 365 E7 is Microsoft's top enterprise plan: Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365, and the Microsoft Entra Suite in one license, at $99.00 per user per month on an annual commitment, or $90.45 without Teams. Whether it saves you money depends on how many of those four pieces each person actually needs. E5 plus Copilot alone comes to $90.00, so E7 only comes out ahead when you would also buy Entra Suite or Agent 365 for the same people. This guide is for owners, IT leads, and finance teams at practices, firms, and growing companies who have an E7 quote in hand or a Copilot rollout on the calendar.
What is Microsoft 365 E7?
Microsoft announced it on March 9, 2026 as Microsoft 365 E7: The Frontier Suite and made it generally available on May 1, 2026. It sits above E5 and contains all of it. The four pieces, in plain terms:
- Microsoft 365 E5. The full enterprise plan: Office apps, email, Teams (in the with-Teams version), the complete Defender security stack, advanced Purview compliance, Entra ID P2, Intune, Security Copilot, Power BI Pro, and Teams Phone.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot. The AI assistant inside Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams that works over each person's own mail, files, and chats.
- Agent 365. Microsoft's control panel for AI agents, which lets IT see which agents exist, what they can reach, and keep them governed and secured the way people accounts are.
- Microsoft Entra Suite. Identity governance (access reviews and joiner-mover-leaver workflows), plus Microsoft's VPN replacement for reaching internal apps and its web filtering service.
Microsoft's E7 page describes the plan as supporting organizations of any size, and it does not publish a seat minimum.
Microsoft 365 E7 price, piece by piece
These are Microsoft's published US list prices, per user per month on an annual commitment, checked on October 18, 2026 against the enterprise plans page and the Entra pricing page.
| Component | Bought on its own |
|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 E5 | $60.00 |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on | $30.00 |
| Agent 365 | $15.00 |
| Microsoft Entra Suite | $12.00 |
| Total, bought separately | $117.00 |
| Microsoft 365 E7 | $99.00 |
| Microsoft 365 E7 without Teams | $90.45 |
That $18.00 gap, about 15 percent, is what Microsoft means when it says E7 is priced below buying the capabilities separately. It is real, and it only applies to a person who would have had all four.
E7 vs E5: where the math turns
Most organizations looking at E7 are really comparing it with E5 plus Copilot, because those are the two pieces people ask for by name. Here is the same person priced five ways:
| What the person needs | Bought separately | On E7 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| E5 only | $60.00 | $99.00 | E7 costs $39.00 more |
| E5 and Copilot | $90.00 | $99.00 | E7 costs $9.00 more |
| E5, Copilot, and Entra Suite | $102.00 | $99.00 | E7 saves $3.00 |
| E5, Copilot, and Agent 365 | $105.00 | $99.00 | E7 saves $6.00 |
| All four | $117.00 | $99.00 | E7 saves $18.00 |
At 100 people who need E5 and Copilot and nothing else, E7 costs $900 a month more than buying the two, which is $10,800 a year. At 100 people who will use all four, E7 saves $1,800 a month. The plan is the same in both cases; which pieces get used decides the answer.
So the useful question for an E7 quote is a short one: for each group of staff, which of the four will they use in the next twelve months? If nobody has a plan for Entra Suite or Agent 365 yet, E5 plus Copilot is the cheaper way to buy the same day-to-day experience.
You do not have to put everyone on E7
Microsoft licenses these plans per user and supports combining plans in a single tenant, so a mix is normal. A common shape is E7 for the people who will use Copilot every day and who sit inside the access reviews Entra Suite automates, with E5 or E3 for everyone else.
Copilot is $30.00 of the $99.00, and its value depends on each person using it. A pilot group of daily users, measured over a quarter, tells you how far to roll it before the whole company is on the bill. The Microsoft 365 licensing calculator prices Business Premium, E3, and E5 against the capabilities you pick, which makes it quick to see what the non-Copilot part of a mix costs.
Under 300 seats, compare Business Premium with Copilot first
E7 is an enterprise plan, and for an organization under 300 seats it is usually the expensive way to get Copilot. Microsoft's Business plans now include a bundled option: Business Premium with Copilot lists at $32.00 per user per month, about a third of E7, and the Business Premium editions of the Defender and Purview suites close most of the security gap to E5. Our Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing guide walks through the Business bundles, and our Business Premium vs E5 comparison has the security side line by line.
What you give up on that path is real but specific: no Agent 365, no Entra Suite, no Security Copilot, no Power BI Pro or Teams Phone in the bundle, and a 300-seat ceiling across all Business plans. If none of those are on your list for the next year, Business Premium with Copilot is the cheaper answer by a wide margin.
What the $99 does not cover
- Metered agent usage. Agents built in Copilot Studio that run on their own or serve customers draw on Copilot Credits, bought prepaid or pay-as-you-go, on top of the seat price. Microsoft's Copilot Studio pricing page lays out the options. Agent 365 governs agents; it does not pay for what they run.
- Teams, if you buy the no-Teams version. E7 without Teams is $90.45, and Microsoft Teams Enterprise lists separately at $8.55.
- Getting the data ready. Copilot can see whatever each person can already reach in SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. If old shares are open to everyone, Copilot will surface them. That cleanup is project work outside the license, and it decides whether a rollout goes smoothly. Our Copilot readiness work starts there.
- Your actual price. List is list. Nonprofit, government, enterprise agreement, and partner pricing can all differ, and multi-year deals change in later years, so price the final year as well as the first.
When Microsoft 365 E7 makes sense
E7 is a sound choice for a group of people when most of these are true:
- You are over 300 seats, or already on E5, so the Business bundles are not an option.
- The group will use Copilot daily, and you have a pilot result that says so.
- You plan to retire a VPN with Entra's private access, or to automate access reviews with Entra ID Governance.
- You are building or buying AI agents and need to see and govern them in one place.
It is a poor fit when Copilot is for a handful of people, when the organization is under 300 seats and happy on Business Premium, or when nobody owns the Entra Suite and Agent 365 pieces. In those cases you pay for capability that sits unconfigured.
Frequently asked questions
How much is Microsoft 365 E7?
Microsoft 365 E7 lists at $99.00 per user per month on an annual commitment, which is $1,188 per user per year. The version without Teams is $90.45. Microsoft made it generally available on May 1, 2026. Nonprofit, government, and negotiated enterprise pricing can differ from list.
What is included in Microsoft 365 E7?
Four products in one license: Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365, and the Microsoft Entra Suite. Bought separately at list price those come to $117.00 per user per month, so E7 at $99.00 is $18.00 less when a person needs all four.
Is Microsoft 365 E7 cheaper than E5 plus Copilot?
No. E5 at $60.00 plus the $30.00 Copilot add-on is $90.00, and E7 is $99.00. E7 only comes out ahead when you would also buy Entra Suite at $12.00 or Agent 365 at $15.00 for the same people. With all four, it saves $18.00 per user per month.
Can we put some people on E7 and the rest on E5 or E3?
Yes. Microsoft licenses these plans per user and supports combining plans in one tenant, so the usual approach is E7 for the people who will use Copilot daily and E5 or E3 for everyone else. That keeps the $30.00 Copilot share of the price on the people who use it.
Does Microsoft 365 E7 have a minimum seat count?
Microsoft's E7 page says the plan supports organizations of any size and does not publish a seat minimum. It is sold through Microsoft and its partners, and agreement pricing can differ from the $99.00 list price, so check the quote against list before you sign.
Getting Microsoft 365 E7 right for your organization
Microsoft 365 E7 is a fair price for people who will use all four of its pieces and a $9.00-a-month premium over E5 plus Copilot for people who will not. The way to buy it well is to split staff into groups, decide which pieces each group will actually use this year, and license each group on the cheapest plan that covers it.
