Microsoft 365 Copilot Pricing in 2026: The Bundles Changed the Math
Published August 23, 2026
Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing in 2026 is $23.50 per user per month bundled with Business Standard, or $32 bundled with Business Premium, both on an annual commitment, with a standalone Copilot Business add-on at $21 list or $18 promotional through September 30, 2026. That is the whole number you should put in a budget, not the old "$30 add-on" figure most articles still repeat. This page is for owners and office managers pricing seats for a firm already on Microsoft 365, with a worked example for 25 people and a last-verified date on every figure.

The Microsoft 365 Copilot price table
| SKU | Annual (per user / month) | Monthly-billed | Notes |

Business Standard and Business Premium base prices are the ones we already track in our Microsoft 365 licensing calculator, also verified August 21, 2026.
What changed July 1, 2026
Until mid-2026, almost every buying conversation treated Copilot as a bolt-on: buy Business Premium or E3, then add Copilot at $30. On July 1, 2026, Microsoft introduced Business Standard with Copilot and Business Premium with Copilot. Microsoft's own language is that Copilot is built in, not bolted on, for those SKUs.
The useful consequence is the increment. Business Standard with Copilot at $23.50 minus Business Standard at $14 is $9.50. Business Premium with Copilot at $32 minus Business Premium at $22 is $10. For shops under 300 seats that were going to buy the base plan anyway, the Copilot piece inside the bundle is about $10, not $21 or $30.
The add-on still exists. It is the right path only when you already have a qualifying plan you do not want to move, or when the quote you are holding is still written that way. For new purchases, run the bundle math first.
The real math for a 25-person company
Assume 25 people, annual commitment, list prices, everyone licensed the same. Three routes:
- Business Standard with Copilot. $23.50 × 25 = $587.50 per month, $7,050 per year. You get Standard apps plus Copilot. You do not get the extra security stack that lives in Business Premium (Intune, Defender for Business, and the rest of that plan).
- Business Premium with Copilot. $32 × 25 = $800 per month, $9,600 per year. This is the usual "we want Copilot and we want the security plan" path. The Copilot increment over plain Premium is $10 × 25 = $250 per month.
- Keep Premium, add Copilot as an add-on. Plain Premium is $22 × 25 = $550. Add Copilot at the $18 promo and you are at $40 × 25 = $1,000 per month. At the $21 list add-on you are at $1,075. Both are more expensive than the $32 bundle for the same 25 people.
If you are already on Premium and can switch to the bundled SKU, that switch is the savings. If you are on Standard and you need Premium's security controls, do not buy Standard with Copilot just because the sticker is lower. Price the outcome, then the SKU. The Business Premium vs E5 comparison is the place to settle the base plan before you layer Copilot on it.
The $18 promo and its catch
Microsoft is promoting the Copilot Business add-on at $18 per user per month on an annual commitment from July 1 through September 30, 2026. Three catches, all from how Microsoft sells it:
- It is the add-on, not the bundle. The $23.50 and $32 figures are list prices for the combined SKUs. Do not apply the $18 promo to those.
- Annual commitment, first year. Monthly-billed add-on is $25.20, which is worse than list annual. Budget a step-up at renewal unless a new promo appears.
- 300-seat cap on Copilot Business. Above that, you are on the enterprise add-on path.
If you buy on the promo, put a reminder on the calendar before September 30, 2026, and again before the first renewal. Timing a SKU change around a promo window is the same discipline as any other Microsoft renewal. Our notes on licensing renewals cover that habit.
Enterprise plans still pay $30
If you are on Microsoft 365 E3 or E5, Copilot is still the $30 per user per month add-on. The July 2026 bundles are a Business-family change. Do not expect the $23.50 or $32 SKUs to appear on an enterprise quote. The calculator on this site prices the enterprise path and the Business bundles so you can see them on one screen.
What Copilot does not include
The SKU named Microsoft 365 Copilot is the assistant in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and the rest of the Microsoft 365 apps. It is not these other products, which get mixed into quotes and then surprise the budget:
- Copilot Studio and custom agents, which are a different licensing conversation.
- Security Copilot, which is a security operations product, not the office assistant.
- The base Microsoft 365 plan if you buy the add-on rather than a bundle. You still need a qualifying plan underneath.
When a vendor or a reseller says "Copilot," ask which SKU. The Copilot deployment page is about Microsoft 365 Copilot, the office assistant, including the governance work before you switch it on.
Check your own numbers
List prices are a starting point. Seat count, mix of Standard vs Premium, who actually needs Copilot, and whether you are under the 300-seat cap change the answer. Use the licensing calculator with Copilot selected and see the cheapest qualifying path for your headcount. Then decide who gets a seat. You do not have to license every mailbox on day one.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost per user?
On Business plans, Microsoft 365 Copilot is $23.50 per user per month bundled with Business Standard, or $32 bundled with Business Premium, both on an annual commitment. The standalone Copilot Business add-on lists at $21, with an $18 promotional price through September 30, 2026. Enterprise plans still add Copilot at $30 per user per month.
Is Copilot included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium?
Not in plain Business Premium. Microsoft sells a separate SKU, Business Premium with Copilot, at $32 per user per month on an annual commitment. Regular Business Premium remains $22, and you can still buy Copilot as an add-on instead. Check which SKU is on the quote before you assume it is built in.
What happens to the $18 promotional price after September 2026?
The $18 price is a first-year promotional rate on the Copilot Business add-on for an annual commitment, and Microsoft lists it through September 30, 2026. After that window, budget the $21 list price unless Microsoft extends the promo. The bundled Business Standard and Business Premium with Copilot SKUs are separate list prices, not the promo.
Do I need a Microsoft 365 plan to buy Copilot?
Yes. Microsoft 365 Copilot sits on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 or Office 365 plan. The Business bundles include the base plan and Copilot together. The add-on requires an eligible Business or Enterprise plan you already own. There is no Copilot-only seat that replaces Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing is the bundle, then the rollout
Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing in 2026 is a bundle decision for most firms under 300 seats, and an add-on decision for enterprise and for tenants that cannot move SKUs yet. Get the number right, then spend the rest of the project on permissions and a pilot, which is the Microsoft Copilot consulting work that makes the seats worth buying.
