Windows Autopilot

Microsoft's zero-touch deployment service that configures a new Windows device automatically the first time it is switched on.

The device ships from the vendor directly to the user. They sign in with their work account and the machine configures itself, joins the tenant, installs applications, and applies policy, with nobody imaging anything.

For distributed teams it removes the shipping loop through an IT office entirely, which is where most of the setup time used to go.

Where this comes up

Windows Autopilot sits inside our microsoft 365 and cloud work. If you are trying to work out what this means for your own environment rather than in the abstract, that is the page worth reading next, and a short call will get you a straight answer faster than either.

Want this explained against your own setup?
